Forward Bend (Chair)
The practice of the forward bend teaches us to let go of what is happening around us and gently turn inward. As we fold toward the heart, we rest in our own inner wisdom. The outer world drifts away, and we meet ourselves in a quieter, deeper space where the nervous system can settle and release what it has been holding.
Forward bends are not about how far we can reach, but how deeply we can let go. Less is more. By surrendering to the natural unfolding of the body, we learn to live with greater ease—trusting the deeper wisdom that carries us. This is the practice of softening into what is, and allowing life’s natural flow to guide us.
Benefits: Improves flexibility of the spine, shoulders, hamstrings, and hips. Stretches the back, increases awareness of the backside of the body and heart, calms the nervous system, and encourages letting go.
Contraindications: For low back concerns, use extra support and go gently. For glaucoma or detached retina, consider keeping the chin lifted.
